What is an Arts Council?
The main objective of the Beaver Falls Arts Council is to promote public art for the revitalization of Beaver Falls. Too often and for too long, our surroundings have communicated defeat – a community past its prime. At times, it can feel like this narrative has been internalized by the community, leaving us without many signs of hope for a bright future.
However, many of us believe that by addressing our environment, we can invite people to consider new possibilities. We believe art can help enliven individual and communal imagination that will make space for a new narrative of hope, potential, and energy.
Often, we consider art a luxury. However, beautification will have a positive impact for our local businesses and neighborhoods. As tired facades are replaced with public art, our main street will feel safer, inviting, charming, and walkable. This change will surely help our local businesses and maybe even draw new businesses to the area.
Beauty is generative, so when one wall is transformed it creates the energy and vision necessary to imagine additional transformation. Surely, neighbors and others will consider additional ways they might add beauty to their homes, streets, or neighborhoods, and be open to what is possible.
