News Tribune Building Renovation

The BF CDC owns the News Tribune Building, an iconic and centrally located building in downtown Beaver Falls, containing decades of memories. While desperate for repair, the CDC has recognized the importance of preserving this building in an effort toward community revitalization and a new chapter in our city’s history book. The BF CDC hopes to complete a full green renovation in order to provide a permanent space for the new children’s museum Neighborhood North: Museum of Play. We have partnered with the regional entity RiverWise to help us undertake this renovation process.
This vision is being brought to life one step at a time. The first step was to replace the roof, which now provides a beautiful view of both the city and the hillside across the river. The next step was to completely overhaul the building’s interior, which progressed significantly due to various volunteer groups from Portage Learning and Geneva College. The document to the right, from 2021, shows the significant investment gone into the building!
The document below maps out the renovation of the News Tribune Building, provided by evolveEA, also from 2021. Since then, the interior has been effectively gutted, stabilized and ready for next steps. As of the Summer of 2024, Neighborhood North has entered into an official lease with the CDC, and taken over the continued renovation & creation of the future Children’s Museum. The facade has now been revitalized along with new windows and doors!
Years of hard work and dedication are slowly, but steadily, coming to fruition. We cannot wait to have the Trib and Neighborhood North become a full-scale Children’s Museum for our City and region!

It is also our hope that this project helps in spurring along additional revitalization in our City.
